Leadership and Neurodiversity Project will return in September

After what I can only say is a shock development, the Leadership and Neurodiversity Project will return in September, after the Immersion Weekend at Indiana Tech (September 11-14).

I received an opportunity to manager a data quality control team on a contract basis for a firm that works with CFOs, controllers and senior accountants who work on a contract basis. I will have a large say as the person who oversees a group that is working with a specific client.

In other words, I got a leadership role.

I’ve started working with this company, and will be meeting the team for the first time tomorrow. I am excited about getting the chance to lead a team to success. It’s something I never thought I would achieve, and likely never would have if I had remained in the corporate world.

Meanwhile I completed a course called Neurodiversity at Work offered by Cornell University. It looks into how to develop a neurodiversity hiring program, and as a participant in one of the first such programs offered into the United States, I offered my insights and theories as to how it can be done in such a way where it could be used company-wide. I appreciated the professor’s ideas about mentorship and employee retention and advancement, which fall in line with my own ideas. I referred the professor to my presentation to Fordham University in 2024, which included my thoughts about such a program.

When the Leadership and Neurodiversity Project returns, it will take on a different approach. I want to work with people who are committed to the cause. I want to hear from people who have reached the glass ceiling that exists for neurodivergent employees. I want to hear from neurodivergent people who have broken the glass ceiling and can provide insight as to how they succeeded. I want this to reflect my academic and professional interests alike, but I want to bring more people on the journey.

Leadership and Neurodiversity will be taking on a whole new meaning going forward.
